Fused Calcium Aluminate and Sintered Calcium Aluminate

 

Calcium aluminate (CaAlO3) refractories are usually derived from calcium aluminate, calcium, or alumina-bearing minerals.  Calcium aluminate is used in refractory cements and shapes, as well as synthetic slag additions for metallurgical operations. Most carbon steel operations aim for minimal slag carry-over. A new slag cover is “built” during tapping. For ladle furnace operations, a calcium aluminate slag is a good choice for sulfur control. Slag forming compounds are added in the ladle at tap so that a slag cover is formed prior to transfer to the ladle furnace. Additional slag materials may be added at the ladle furnace if the slag cover is insufficient. The other use Calcium Aluminate is for cooling of slag pit during melting process.The cooling rate of steel slag is sufficiently low so that crystalline compounds are generally formed. The predominant compounds are dicalcium silicate, tricalcium silicate, dicalcium ferrite, merwinite, calcium aluminate, calcium-magnesium iron oxide, and some free lime and free magnesia (periclase).

Calcium aluminate products are widely used in steel mills, LF furnace, CAS-OB and the RH refining process of desulfurization. It is a product which is refining and iron and steel desulfurization pretreatment of water.

* Uniform in composition, Non-moisture absorption, non-pulverization and no deterioration during transportation.

* Low melting point, quick melting, good flow ability and lubricating property which ensures good de-Sulphur efficiency.

* No slag conditioning needed, fusing period can be reduced sharply.

 

* Product is in lumpy or granular form which reduces dust pollution during smelting.

*It is mainly suitable for de-sculpturing and heat-reserving in the making of high quality steels.

 

Size

Granular Size: normal granular size is 1-50mm which can be adjusted as per requirement of the customers.
